Buying Mom a Cell Phone

Anyone realize how hard it is to find a normal, simple, phone these days? one that just makes calls and has voicemail... not surf the web, send texts, email, take pictures, publish to facebook, plan trips, locate restaurants, or scratch your ass for you? (that last one i think is in the iphone 5.0 specs...)

I love smart-phone technology, it makes my life easier, but when taking my mom out to look at phones I think her head was ready to explode from the onslaught of features that she didn't need. The "droid incredible" is incredible, but mom doesn't know what to do with all those buttons, and even the idea of a touchscreen is a bit too sci-fi for her tastes... and all these flip/twist/swivel designs that pop out with a full keyboard about made her ready to give up on the whole idea. Don't get me wrong, she's a smart lady, she just missed the technology boat and has no interest in trying to catch up with it.

It took a while, but a nice young clerk at a verizon store was able to pull something out of the back that didn't confuse mom too much... it still has more features than she needs, but at least she'll be able to use it.
